The VSA-3000 Vibratory Sensory Analyzer is a
computerized device offering quantitative assessment of the
function of large-caliber, A-beta sensory nerve fibers of the
peripheral nervous system. Available as a stand-alone unit or as
an accessory option to the TSA-II NeuroSensory Analyzer, the VSA-3000
quantifies vibratory sensory perception thresholds and is a
clinically validated method of rapid screening, early detection
and longitudinal evaluation of those at risk of sensory
dysfunction associated with disease and occupational injury.
Common applications include evaluation of diabetic neuropathy,
carpal tunnel syndrome, lumbar radiculopathies and various
peripheral and compression neuropathies.
Principle of Operation
The VSA-3000 is comprised of a Hand and Foot
Support Vibratory Stimulators, Operating Software and Accessories.
The Vibratory Stimulator is built into an ergonomically designed,
comfortable and easy to use platform which functions as a hand
support with the stimulator head facing up. The vertically facing
stimulator head creates a controlled pressure of 50 grams against
the test site, providing a means of assessing the underside of the
hand, i.e. pulp of the finger. A Foot Support accessory supports
the foot for evaluation of the foot/plantar. It has been
demonstrated that testing of the pulp in this manner has been
shown to provide more reliable and reproducible results, while
optimizing patient comfort and thus compliance. An optional
Hand-held Vibratory Stimulator, with 1.5 meter cable for testing
of trunk, face and other body sites, offers flexibility and easy
access to variety of sites on the patient's body.
